Honest MRR compared with other subscription analytics tools
A short guide to the subscription analytics tools indie founders and small SaaS teams usually weigh, and how Honest MRR compares. Every fact about another product comes from that company's own website as of October 4, 2026, with the page linked beside it — and each comparison says plainly when the other tool is the better choice.
The tools
Baremetrics
Subscription analytics and dashboards, headlined on its homepage as built for Stripe. baremetrics.com
Best for: You bill through Braintree, Chargebee or Recurly — Baremetrics connects to them natively; Honest MRR doesn't connect to any of the three. baremetrics.com
ChartMogul
A subscription analytics platform that unifies revenue analytics and customer data. chartmogul.com
Best for: You're under $10K MRR and want analytics free: ChartMogul's free plan covers up to $10K MRR, while Honest MRR's Starter is free up to $2k MRR and shows an upgrade reminder past it. chartmogul.com
ProfitWell Metrics by Paddle
Accurate, accessible revenue reporting for subscription and SaaS companies — completely free. paddle.com
Best for: You want subscription metrics completely free — ProfitWell Metrics charges nothing, while Honest MRR's Starter is free up to $2k MRR and shows an upgrade reminder past it. paddle.com
Honest MRR
Subscription analytics built from each provider's own records: MRR, churn, LTV and cohorts across Stripe, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, RevenueCat, Superwall, Polar, Patreon, Whop and Qonversion, in one ledger where every MRR movement is open to inspection.
Best for: founders who need one MRR across web, app-store and creator revenue, and numbers an investor can check. It is a new product, and it only reads your data — no dunning, no CRM.
What to look at when you choose
Does it read the billing systems you use?
Every tool here connects to Stripe; past that the lists differ a lot — app stores, merchants of record like Paddle and Polar, marketplaces, invoicing systems. Start from where your money actually comes from.
How does it define MRR?
Tools disagree on discounts, tax, trials, past-due subscriptions and app-store fees, so the same account can show different MRR in each. Read each tool's rules before comparing numbers — ours are on the methodology page.
What does it cost at your revenue?
Free tiers end at different points and paid plans scale with the revenue tracked. Price the tool at the MRR you expect in a year, not today.
What else do you need next to the metrics?
Some tools also recover failed payments, run a CRM or forecast from accounting data; others focus on reporting you can hand to an investor. Pay for the part you will use.
Honest MRR's rules are on how we calculate MRR.
Pricing and MRR rules at a glance
| Tool | Pricing | Discounts in MRR |
|---|---|---|
| Baremetrics | Three plans — Launch, Growth and Scale — banded by the annual recurring revenue it tracks: up to $360K, $360K–$3.6M and above $3.6M. Two add-ons are available on any plan. baremetrics.com | A customer's coupon is removed from MRR, and customers on 100%-off coupons are treated as free users and left out. help.baremetrics.com |
| ChartMogul | Free up to $10K MRR, then priced by the ARR it tracks: Starter from $69 a month and Pro from $119 a month (billed monthly), Enterprise from $19,900 a year. chartmogul.com | MRR is offset by discounts. help.chartmogul.com |
| ProfitWell Metrics | Completely free. A paid Metrics Plus plan adds faster data updates — 30–60 minutes instead of 3–6 hours — on request. paddle.com | Always subtracts discounts and credits before calculating MRR. paddle.com |
| Honest MRR | Starter free up to $2k MRR (a reminder past it, not a cutoff), Pro $49 a month, Business $149 a month. | Counts plan prices before coupons for Stripe, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy and Whop (the rule). |
